[paper accepted] Glycerol to dihydroxyacetone with a CuO electrocatalyst

Collaboration with Prof. Chia-Ying Chiang (NTUST). An inexpensive CuO electrocatalyst selectively oxidizes glycerol, a by-product of the biodiesel industry, to dihydroxyacetone (about 60% selectivity at pH 9), which could be combined with hydrogen production at the cathode. This work was introduced in a Tokyo Tech press release.
