[paper accepted] 3D bacterial adhesion on model organic surfaces studied by QCM-D

The initial, reversible attachment of bacteria is the key step in biofilm formation. Using optical microscopy and QCM-D, we analyzed how E. coli adheres to SAMs with different terminal groups and characterized the three-dimensional manner of bacterial adhesion at the nanoscale. This work was introduced in a Tokyo Tech press release.
